Throughout the Elizabethan era, the wealthy had pleanty of food on their plates. The amount and types of food that the rich and wealthy ate was endless. It included a huge variety of food, mostly meats, such as beef, lamb, mutton, pork, bacon, veal, and other unique animals that we wouldn't eat today like peacocks, blackbirdds, and pigeons. However, they also had healthy choices presented to them, like fish, fruits, vegetables. The vegetbables were normally prepared with the meats and bread. The rich also enjoyed their desserts. They ate a lot of pastries, tarts, cakes, cream, custard. These desserts were prepared with sugar and were served during special occasions. Because the wealthy ate so much, it showed due to their large weight.
